Most marital relationships start from the point of attraction, and there is nothing wrong with it in as much as the parties involved are able to commit to one another beyond their attraction, for infatuation is a weak force that cannot sustain the weight of marriage.

Though love is consistent and selfless, it is also highly principled, and it should not be taken for granted, dishonored, or abused because of its consistent nature. Hence, parties involved in a marital relationship should have mutual respect for one another so as to enhance consistency in their love for each other.

Love is a constant force; it endures and does not fail because it is a way of life, that is, a lifestyle. A person who does not live to love himself or herself genuinely and who finds day-to-day association with parents, siblings, friends, and neighbors difficult might find it difficult to foster love consistently in a marital relationship.

Based on the outcome of my experiences and exposition at the Sure Hope Counseling Clinic, I hereby define love as a consistent force of attraction that is potent enough to stir commitment in a person towards another in a romantic or an affectionate manner.

One of the research findings of the Sure Hope Counseling Clinic reveals that eight out of ten young adults believe that love is feelings and emotions, and seven out of ten of the same population have changed marital relationships more than twice. The outcome of this research points out the fact that there is more to love than feelings and emotions, as feelings and emotions are not the real definitions of love. Though love is a personality that has emotions and feelings that can be pleasing or displeasing, but in truth, love surpasses feelings and emotions.

Many people feel hurt towards people, some feel God has offended them and some find it difficult to forgive themselves.

Traumatic experiences can color ones perception about himself or herself. Identifying your traumatic past and impact will help you seek the required help to make your relationship/marriage blissful.
