Personality is the combination of both environmental and genetic factors such as exposure, association, temperament, and more. Personality is the rationale behind individuation, meaning that people respond to issues in life differently because of personality differences. People might have the same temperament, but no two individuals have the same personality, likewise, people respond to commitment differently because of the differences in their personalities.
For instance, a sanguine wife might communicate commitment by wanting to tell you all about her at once, while a choleric husband might not tell his wife how much he loves her but can always act on his love by ensuring that her material needs are met. This is because sanguine talks love, choleric acts love, melancholy feels love, and phlegmatic shows love. Though he might be passive about the whole idea of love until he is pushed into it, his consistent nature helps him a lot in showing love.
