“I was hired to shoot a wedding… only to realize the bride was my girlfriend.”
Akwa Ibom’s well-known photographer, Comr. Samie Paul, shared this heartbreaking experience. He showed up to a wedding gig in Imo State only to find out the bride was the woman he had been dating—beautifully dressed, glowing, and marrying someone else.
Despite the emotional shock, he pulled through professionally, directing the couple, capturing beautiful moments, and delivering the best wedding photos of their lives… all while silently nursing a shattered heart.
His story struck me deeply—not just because of the betrayal, but because of how common it is for people to go through serious emotional trauma without seeking healing.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Many people carry pain and heartbreak silently. They move on without healing. But the truth is, unhealed pain shapes how we trust, love, and relate to others. Every reaction, every fear, every wall we build… is a reflection of our past.
That’s why I always recommend: Talk to a therapist.
Whether it’s heartbreak, childhood trauma, depression, or anxiety—you deserve to be whole, not just functional.
At Sure Hope Counseling Clinic, your mental health is our priority.
Healing is possible. Restoration is real. And love—true love—is still worth believing in.
